This Privacy Policy explains how Clearful Journal Inc. (“Clearful”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects
information when you use Recurve (the “Service”), including our iOS and macOS applications and our website.
Quick summary
- Local-first: You can use Recurve without an account. In that mode, your content stays on your device.
- Sync and AI are optional: If you enable sync or AI features, we process the information needed to provide them.
- No selling of personal info: We don’t sell your personal information.
- Service providers: We share information with vendors that help us run the Service (hosting, sync, AI, support).
1. What we collect
Information you provide
- Account information (if you create an account), such as email address and authentication details.
- Content you add (for example: notes, flashcards, prompts, and attachments). In local-only mode, this stays on-device; if you enable sync or AI, relevant content is processed on our servers and/or by vendors we use.
- Support communications, such as messages you send to us and the information you choose to include.
Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage data, such as device type, operating system version, app version, and feature usage, which may be collected to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Log data, such as IP address, timestamps, and error logs.
- Website data: our hosting provider may collect standard web logs when you visit our website. We do not use your website activity for targeted advertising.
Information from third parties
- App Store purchases: if you purchase a subscription through Apple, we receive subscription status and related purchase metadata (we do not receive your full payment card details).
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service (including syncing your content across devices, if enabled).
- Power AI features you choose to use (for example, generating draft cards from your input).
- Improve performance, reliability, and user experience (including debugging and security).
- Communicate with you (support, product updates, and essential notices).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. AI features
If you use AI features, information you submit (including portions of your content) may be transmitted to and processed by third-party AI providers
to generate outputs. AI outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete. Please don’t submit sensitive personal information or confidential data you don’t want processed by an AI provider.
4. How we share information
We may share information:
- With service providers that help us operate the Service (for example: hosting, sync infrastructure, AI processing, email/support tooling).
- For legal reasons, such as to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, or prevent fraud/abuse.
- In connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger, acquisition, or asset sale), where information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data retention
We keep information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes (such as security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance).
You can request deletion of your account information and synced content as described below.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Local-only mode: if you don’t create an account, your content remains on your device and you control it there.
- Access / deletion: you can request access to or deletion of your account data and synced content by emailing support@recurveapp.com.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store account settings.
8. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. International transfers
If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, in-app).
The “Last updated” date above indicates when this policy was most recently revised.
